Becoming a mother changed me. The sappy commercials were right (at least about some things). As I grew into my new role, mothering through breastfeeding became second nature to me. I've been blessed to nurse three kiddos, all different experiences, just to underscore that they are three different individuals. Not that I could forget! I have an intense and passionate family full of characters who I wouldn't trade for the world. And I can't wait to care for yours!

Pregnancy and childbirth were profound experiences for me. I had the perfect labor and delivery all planned out...but what I got was an emergency c-section, a baby who wouldn't breastfeed, and terrible postpartum anxiety. Over time, I became passionate about providing pregnant people with education, respect, and guidance through their journey. It's never what we expect, and we all deserve support along the way.

Being able to help families in their parenthood journey, and specifically infant feeding, has become a true passion of mine. After having a child of my own, I became more aware of how much there really is to know about taking care of a newborn. As a labor and delivery nurse, I had a decent amount of experience with newborns, but there was still SO much I had to learn! I told myself that I would make it my life work to help other families gain confidence and feel empowered in taking care of their new baby. Providing compassionate, family-centered care is so important to me, and something I am honored to be able to provide through Mama Bear Lactation Care.

From childhood, I dreamed of mothering and breastfeeding. However, when my sons were born, my breastfeeding experiences were different from anything I had imagined. While there was joy in it, there was also pain, physical challenges, and grief when each breastfeeding relationship ended earlier than I wanted. This kindled a passion in me for nurturing others through this delicate season of life. I am excited to empower parents and offer compassionate support for families in their unique feeding journeys.

As a health educator, I had researched and prepared for the birth of my daughter. After she was born, I frantically searched for help to make breastfeeding work. My daughter was not able to latch because of a severe lip and tongue tie. She needed a procedure to release the ties, and our family needed extra support. Mama Bear provided the referrals, education, and ongoing support to help my family. By volunteering, I hope to pay forward the support I have graciously received!
